Quantum-Touch® Therapy Going Mainstream

Imagine being in an institution of healing  where hands-on therapy and meditation were an integrative part of the services applied with patients, and shared by the staff members.  As I ponder how health care would look with  more alternative processes in which patients could receive the loving touch of professional hands-on practitioners with empathic listening providing a sense of value and caring.  I’ve been imagining the benefits of hands-on healing on arthritic joints and on the head of someone who is demonstrating symptoms of dementia.   Imagine the potential healing value and input of these various modalities on the life expectancy and quality of life of our beloved seniors who have contributed so much to our current life.

In my moments of working with a project in this realm, I remember my reaction when reading the novel by Starhawk entitled “The Fifth Sacred Thing” in which the chief medical officer was an energy healer.  Greg Braden, author of “The Science of Compassion” presents his thesis that the healing of our relationships with the people  and the planet would take place when we were able to relate with compassion.  I’ve had a vision of the future and I am currently contemplating how the integration of these new, yet ancient modalities, can fundamentally shift the results of what we experience in health care institutions.  Further understandings can be gleaned from the work of Carl Rogers in “On Becoming a Person” where he speaks of the healing our clients by the use of unconditional, positive regard.  I’ve also studied Hawkins work where he measures the levels of consciousness on the scale of 1 to 1000.  Most people on the planet are at a level of 200.  However, as I work with clients, I witness the speed of results amongst those with  higher levels of consciousness who practice Quantum-Touch therapy, meditation and NVC or Compassionate Listening.  I’ve also been impressed and influenced by the story of the medical office at the mental institution inHawaii, who developed a method called Ho’oponopono,  whose work eventually effected the cure of all the patients, by simply holding their files with the words “I love you”,  “I’m sorry”, “Please forgiveme.” and “Thank you”.  Sounds a bit like Carl Rogers’ unconditional, positive regard.

Although my involvement with seniors in facilities has been limited, the connection I have had was very positive, and created a considerable difference in their experience involving improved memory and reduction in pain.   During cranio-sacral therapy training, learned that many patients experiencing the symptoms of dementia or Alzheimer’s disease, have experienced a head injury some time earlier in their lives.  We are now having this confirmed by research being done on the brain (those that have been left to science for exploration) of professional athletes who have been serious blows to the head during their careers.  I’ve worked with many clients who have also experienced a blow to the head sometimes having been diagnosed as a concussion, and sometimes not, however, I felt the movement of cranial bones under my hands during these sessions, as the body, both the head and the upper spine, shifted in ways that may have caused some initial discomfort to my client, but totally removed all the painful symptoms from that old head injury.

I can also share about a healing event with seniors who are experiencing dementia, as shared by one of very first students, who worked in a Long-term care facility, and following the class, returned to her work the next day and applied the Quantum-Touch techniques to a particularly agitated patient, who clearly was in severe pain all day and night and could not find the level of peace so that she could get a night’s rest.  Following several sessions over the next few days, this patient began to sleep throughout the night, and was much more peaceful during the day.  It had been established upon some research in the files, that she had experienced a head injury sometime in the past, so that when Ruby held her head, applying Quantum-Touch, the pain was released as the bones moved back into their proper place.

Perhaps the answer is not to have this care given in institutions. Perhaps the answer is to have these  processes supported by our health care budgets to take place within the home of the client so that they may remain within their own familiar surroundings  and this work could be applied by family members, friends, or other service providers who will provide a safe environment where the clients does not need the care and services of long-term care facilities.

This is, of course, not a short term solution to all our health care needs, however, if we can take the time, and open our consciousness to accept the possibility of being healthy and strong within our own homes, long into our seniors years.  I believe within my own life, I have made this discovery and intend to remain healthy, vibrant and active, teaching and offering my beautiful work until I am well over 100 years of age.
